About Us

In 1923, the Trenton Architects' Society was formed with the first President, William A. Poland of Trenton. In the late 50's early 60's, this organization was renamed the Capital Chapter, one of nine chapters that comprised the state society of The New Jersey Society of Architects, of The American Institute of Architects (AIA).

In 1930, the Union County Society of Architects was incorporated with Robert C. Edwards as its President. And later, in 1965, it was renamed and reincorporated as the Central Jersey Chapter with Thomas A. Vail as its President.

In 1970, the Capital Chapter and the Central Jersey Chapter merged as the Capital-Central Jersey Chapter, one of six chapters that comprised the state society, The New Jersey Society of Architects of the AIA. As of 1971, this Chapter was called the Central Chapter or Central Jersey Chapter

More recently, AIA Central New Jersey was reorganized as a Section of the The New Jersey Society of Architects, a Chapter of the AIA.
