Why AIA 2013

A Message from Our President

Hello Everyone,

It appears that spring might not be that far away after all! Your Central NJ AIA board hopes that the first month of 2013 has brought good things to you and yours and that this year will ultimately meet your expectations. Our 2013 continuing education curriculum will provide a myriad of relevant topics, many of them requested by membership.

Using the same format of last year, all dinner meetings are free of charge for members and $20.00 for non-members. You will have the opportunity to earn at least 2 learning units, most being HSW and sustainability related. Topics for this year include: Liability and Insurance, Fire and its Affect on a Building & Materials, Exterior Wall Assemblies & Waterproofing Barriers, Contracts, Acoustics, Net Zero Building Design and Water Efficiency.

In addition, there will be two chances for seminar participates to win the complete LEED study guide published by Kaplan. I will continue to collect contact information of firms looking to hire and those members who are looking to be hired. I encourage the use the chapter to assist during a still challenged architectural economy. I also welcome any comments or suggestions that you may have about any issue that you think membership can benefit. Feel free to email me at [email protected].

Our website is in the process of being updated with current information. If you are interested in showcasing a project on the website, please email me a summary of the project, all required credits and a jpg or bmp image no greater than 4mb. I encourage members to have more interaction with the website as I have gotten requests for architectural services and those looking to become members directly through or because of it. The outside world is checking us out and it is free advertising for your talent!

The 2013 seminar schedule is listed below. We will continue to alternate the seminar location between the Edison and New Brunswick areas. Our first seminar is being hosted by the Hyatt in New Brunswick on February 12 at 6:00pm and will include a discussion about Liability & Risk and Facades & Fire. An email announcement will be sent separately.
